Personal Chef Dinners
It’s better at home. Eating well doesn’t just happen in restaurants anymore. Instead of dealing with the inconvenience of going out to eat you can now have an exceptional dining experience prepared in your own kitchen. For you and your guests, we can create a plated or family-style meal using the freshest local ingredients. We handle all shopping, prep, cooking, and cleanup. View some example menus from previous events. You can also add In-home Cooking Classes or Wine Pairing to this experience.
(PB Cooks Service Fee is $85/person plus cost of ingredients which will vary based on final menu choices)
In-home Cooking Classes
We offer expertise on how to stock your pantry, fridge and freezer with staple ingredients you can use for most recipes. This allows you to spend less time shopping and prepping for each meal and more time cooking. This can also be booked as a separate class where we simply focus on time-saving shortcuts and learning one or two cooking techniques or added on to our Catering + Personal Chef Dinners.
(PB Cooks Service Fee is $85/person plus cost of ingredients)
Wine Pairing + Consulting
We’ve partnered with some of Charleston’s finest beverage experts to compliment our dinner parties. Have one of our highly trained sommeliers perfectly pair a delicious wine with each course of your meal.
(PB Cooks Service Fee is $50 for wine pairing)
Meet Phil Brenner
Chef and Owner
Trained at The French Culinary Institute.
Developed at ABC Kitchen, FIG, and others.
Learning the foundation of classic French cooking gave me the blueprint I could use to begin my professional culinary career. In 2009 I attended The French Culinary Institute in lower Manhattan and was taught a curriculum that emphasized fundamentals and technique. While at FCI I completed an externship at Andrew Carmellini’s TriBeCa restaurant Locanda Verde, getting my first taste of a high-quality, high-volume NYC landmark. After graduation from FCI I began as a line cook for Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the James Beard Award-winning ABC Kitchen. As I progressed through all of the kitchen stations I gained an appreciation for using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, prepared simply, with a focus on healthy eating. My experience in New York prepared me well for my journey to Charleston in 2012. At FIG I was given the opportunity to expand upon what I had already learned. I helped in the opening of their sister restaurant, The Ordinary where I watched a restaurant grow from day one. In addition to cooking I learned lessons in planning, organization, and communication that would be useful throughout my career. The idea for this business came to me when I was teaching cooking classes at The Daily in the summer of 2016. Those experiences were one part technical instruction and one part dinner party. I really enjoyed the direct interaction with guests whether we were talking techniques, recipes, or the best places to buy their favorite specialty ingredients. It’s better at home. I want to bring the restaurant experience to you, in your home using your kitchen. No reservations, no downtown traffic and no more cramped, noisy dining rooms. There’s no reason you can’t eat as well at home as you could in a restaurant. Together we can make that happen.
Don't just take our word for it. Read what some of our customers have said.
Phil took on the difficult challenge of making a vegan meal taste delicious. He succeeded not once but 4 times. Each course featured fresh, locally sourced ingredients, which was really important to us. Phil took the time to explain what each course was and satisfied our curiosity by sharing some of his recipes. We are still drooling over the magical coconut chocolate mousse he served for dessert. Amazing!
Phil brought such great energy to our girls’ night! We had a group of 10 girls and he fit right in and created such a special evening. He worked with us on our menu options to ensure there weren’t allergies, restrictions, likes, and dislikes. He arrived on time, assembled, served, cleaned…but the best part – so interactive with the group while working. We could ask questions, try items as they were made, or test our own skills. It goes without saying that the food was 5 star – incredibly fresh, seasonal and innovative. Can’t recommend highly enough to bring that extra flare to your dinner parties!
Phil did a dinner for my wife and me and four guests at our home on Isle of Palms. We planned the menu together. The service was great, the ingredients first rate, and the dinner delicious. We didn’t have to do a thing, all was taken care of. Very experienced, accommodating and professional. Couldn’t have asked for more.
